American Express is a leading financial services corporation specializing in payment cards. Their employees–Colleagues–know them to be a company that lives by their values, with a supportive culture and great benefits.
Their intranet–Career and Well-being–holds information for colleagues of all levels, holding essential HR information, as well as general policies and documents for conducting work. Colleagues feel their systems are outdated and untrustworthy, and that makes them question whether Amex is really innovative.
How might we relaunch Career and Well-being into a trusted support hub for Amex colleagues?
The frog team included customized widgets and page structures built within the Amex staging environment, allowing them to quickly utilize our designs across their intranet.
We created a logical new site architecture with the ultimate goal of clear and well-structured page templates using colleague interviews and key data analysis (including customer support queries, site searches, and site analytics) that could be leveraged across the entire platform.
With the American Express intranet undergoing a change of CMS platforms during this redesign, the new designs should adhere closely to the strict widget guidelines. It should leverage colleague insights and key data points to recommend a new site architecture and support browing behaviors, and it should embody the American Express spirit and enthusiasum.
“For employees to be highly productive, they require clear expectations, communication and learning and development opportunities. When employees’ needs are met, they don’t just become 'happier'—they become better performers.”
